Thomson Financial 2000-Present
Thomson corporation is the "World's leading information source." Thomson Financial's flagship products are a suite of real-time market data workstation and datafeed products; these are the products for which I manage client support.
- Currently provide presales and postsales support to Thomson Financial datafeed clients. Includes presales presentations and support, requirements analysis, liaising with various internal groups to escalate customer issues, and realtime troublshooting of client issues on proprietary SCO UNIX software system.
- During 2004 as Technical Account Manager, was responsible for ensuring 20 Thomson Financial datafeed clients migrated from a legacy product to next generation TCP/IP datafeed interface within an agressive timeframe. Served as first point of contact for client technical questions, responsible for ensuring issues were resolved and customers satisfied with the process. All clients migrated by September 2004. Researched global datafeed support processes for Thomson Financial senior management and making recommendations for process improvement.
- Utilize my own data networking, programming logic and market data knowledge to resolve client issues, keeping to an agressive client migration schedule.
- Previously promoted to Supervisor of Enterprise Sales Engineering, managing a national group of sales engineers to guide new datafeed clients from first introduction to the product through deployment of their proprietary application. Utilize documentation and sample application to troubleshoot, answer development questions, and solve problems.
- Previously served as development product management resource to identify client requirements for new features and product fixes.
Ameritech Cellular Services/SBC Wireless 1995-2000
Ameritech Cellular was the leading cellular services provider in the Midwest, it was split in 1999 and is now a part of both Cingular Wireless and Verizon Wireless.
- Promoted to Supervisor, Roaming Operations, February 2000. Supervised, trained, evaluated and assimilated eight direct reports from two seperate companies merged into one.
- Promoted to Lead Roaming Operations Consultant, July 1999. Served as team leader for three-person roaming operations troubleshooting group.
- Traveled to Ameritech call centers in Elgin and Rantoul, IL to deliver roaming operations training to technical assistance consultants. Wrote and presented technical training to 100+ associates in groups at Rantoul, April 2000.
- Performed in-depth troubleshooting for Ameritech Cellular customers having trouble traveling with their cellular phones. Investigated accounts in Lucent 5E switch while interacting with roaming personnel from other cellular carriers.
- Served as "Zone Captain" for southwest Chicago suburbs 1997-1998 while serving in Ameritech Technical Assistance Group. Compiled dropped call reports and made recommendations to RF engineering personnel.
- Promoted to Universal Customer Service Consultant May 1996; assisted company in opening new call center in Rantoul, IL; mentored and assisted training new employees.
Anderson Financial Network, 1994-1995
Anderson Financial Network was a company with 250 employees when I worked there in 1994-1995; it is now a national outsourcing corporation with thousands of employees. Information on the company is at www.afninet.com. I led this collection agency in total dollars recovered in July, 1995.
- Ranked #1 in total dollars collected among 145 recovery consultants during July, 1995.
Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity, 1993-1994
TKE is the largest international college fraternity, and I was chosen to be one of the first class of Chapter Management Consultants when I completed my undergraduate education in 1993.
- Chosen as one of eight men nationally to work for TKE International Headquarters in 1993-1994 as Chapter Management Consultants.
- Traveled to 45 undergraduate fraternity chapters in Midwest and Eastern United States to advise undergraduate and local alumni membership on proper operations, chapter finances, and recruitment.
- Responded to disciplinary situation in October 1993; interacted with school officials and developed crisis management plan to successfully handle the issue.
- Assisted with planning and management of fraternity's 43rd biennial Conclave in San Francisco, August 1993. Wrote and delivered breakout training sessions for undergraduates on Chapter Operations and Financial Management.
TKE Illinois State (Mu-Upsilon) Chapter, 1989-1993
- Served chapter as President, Vice President/Public Relations Chairman, Historian and Social Chairman.
- As Alumni Association President 1993-1994, prepared annual report for chapter which resulted in them winning Top Alumni Relations and Top Public Relations chapter awards. Named first Chapter Alumnus of the Year, 1994. Chapter received Top Teke Chapter award 1995, TKE's highest chapter honor.
- As President (1993), secured new house lease and recruited largest Spring new membership class in four years. Recieved Chapter Leadership Award 1992-1993.
- As Vice President/Public Relations Chairman (1992), wrote news releases which resulted in several articles being written on the chapter in local media. Setup community relations program; chapter volunteered to Bloomington's Home Sweet Home Mission and GoodFellow Fund. Reinstated Chapter newsletter that had been dormant for several years.
- As Historian (1990-1991), created chapter's first alumni relations program and hosted first alumni Homecoming weekend, Fall 1990.
- Charter member, 1989-1990.
Other Experience
- Authored book Chicago Bears History for Arcadia Publishing in 2004. Researched, interviewed former players, wrote all text, and negotiated with all photographers for photo content. Serve as Bears reporter for websites www.profootballcentral.com and www.otcdraft.com.
- Assistant Manager, Taylor's Carquest Auto Parts, 1986-1993, concurrent with schooling. Earned "Carquest Qualified Counterpro" certification in 1987.
- Worked summers for Plainfield (IL) Township Highway Department, 1989-1991. Earned Class B CDL truck license August 1990.
- Employed at Moran Auto Parts and Western Auto Supply, Bloomington, IL concurrent with schooling, 1990-1992.
- On-air news reporter for WZND 106.1 Radio Normal 1991-1992. Received award for "Best Actualities," Fall 1991.
