Plainfield Enterprise, August 3, 1994
by Roy Taylor, Enterprise Correspondent
The Plainfield Board of Education accepted the resignation of Board member Joan Reed at a special meeting Monday night. Reed has moved out of the district and is not able to fulfill her term.
“We appreciate the eight months of service Joan has provided, and the energy and vitality she brought to her board service,” said Board President Bob Smith.
After voting to accept the resignation, the Board adjourned to closed session to discuss the procedures necessary to fill the vacancy. According to Illinois School Code, individuals interested in serving on the board may submit a letter announcing their intent and qualifications to the District Office.
The deadline to submit a letter of intent is August 19. After that date, the board will conduct interviews with those interested and a replacement will be chosen by September 15. The individual chosen to fill the vacancy will serve until November 1995, when the remaining two years of the term will be up for election.
For more information, contact Lynn Brashear at the district office, 439-3240.
