Renovations planned before the fire in Milner Library last week are back on schedule, according to library officials.
Alan Nourie, assistant librarian, said new carpet was installed on the second floor and was not affected by the fire. Other planned changes included moving several document collections between floors, and these projects are 75 percent done, Nourie said. A new browsing area has been created on the second floor, and fire cleanup work did not delay its completion, he explained. “I can look out my office and see people using it all the time, Nourie said. Barbara Alexander, director of general information and the reference department, said the 16-hour workdays put in by the cleanup crews slowed the renovations. “We’re getting these tasks done currently because this is the first opportunity we’ve had to do them,” she said. |
